The Lawless Doohickey Company say: "Our roof deck has been leaking for almost two-years. The contractor comes back and just "caulks" all the seams. We are so glad we found Driscoll to finally get it fixed the right way "

The Lawless Doohickey Company Project Description:

First: Their fiberglass roof top deck was installed using silicone caulk, rather

than bondo (wood putty) between the sheets of plywood. When the roof deck

started leaking down on the doohickies, the contractor would simply add

more caulk to the seams to temporarily s-l-o-w down the leaking. That might

save a few doohickies for today, but what about the doohickies of tomorrow.

The second "major" problem was the roof deck drains were built-up or

elevated too high for proper water run-down and therefore the water puddled

up on the sides of the drains, rotting out the roof.

      Driscoll Solution Story:

First we removed the top layer of plywood to locate where the water was

getting in; remove 8-10" of the siding up the walls and parapets, remove the

drain and air vent covers. Then add a new layer of 1/2" BC plywood, bondo

between all the seams, grind down and install 2.0oz fiberglass and Gel Kote

on the entire deck surface, including up the walls and parapets.

Note the silicone caulked seams to stop? the leaking... Here is the 1,500 sf roof deck layout Note the elevated drains w/water puddles on each side
More standing water not running down the drain Ripping off that old leaky roof deck... Note the hole in center forground
Shoot down the old roof right into the dumpster Cover it all up just in case Push up the new plywood (50 sheets)
Installing the new B/C plywood w/bondo (wood putty) between seams Drains level with the roof deck work better... Ahhh Fiberglass...!

Water tight vent cap back in place Grinding the 'glass... Almost there, with new matching Gel Kote...

Drain down here..! All Done...! Now, compare this with the top "before" image
